BROOK, Rodney Desmond It is with great sadness, we advise that our dear Dad, Rodney Brook, passed away peacefully at Aspiring Care Centre in Wanaka in the early hours of Friday, March 21, 2025. Born on 30 November 1936, Rod was the dearly beloved husband of the late Fay Mary, much loved father of Stephen, David and Jackie, dearly loved grandfather of Juliet, Sophie, Jamie, Harry, William, baby Nicholas and baby Thomas, and father-in-law of Jacqui, dearly loved son of the late George and Laura Brook. Dad will be greatly missed, he had the warmest heart and endless capacity for love and good cheer. A life well lived, with an abundance of adventure, travel, humour and love. Among the many wonderful enduring memories of Dad’s life, we find consolation that he will be reunited with Fay and their beautiful daughter, Jackie. Our heartfelt thanks to the wonderful, caring and loving staff of Aspiring Care Centre, Wanaka. A Memorial Service to celebrate Dad and Mum’s life will be held at a later date.

MacIntosh, Rex Lawson 22.1.1946 - 21.2.2025 Beloved son of Clarence* and Mona* MacIntosh. Cherished husband of Aveleen*, dearly loved Dad to Les and Shar, Grandad to Nicole, Stacey, Rory, Hunter, Leon and Bradley, great-grandfather to Lily, Charlotte, Isobel and Rose. Fisherman, friend, brother, uncle, jack of all trades and so much more. After a battle with cancer and fulfilling his final wish to spread the ashes of his darling soulmate Aveleen, Rex, feeling a job well done, slipped away peacefully in his sleep, surrounded by loved ones. At Dads request, friends and family are invited to gather at his home in Tarras this week to celebrate a life well lived, listen to his and Ave’s favourite tunes and have a drink or two. Rex will lie in state at his home until midday Wednesday 26th, for anyone who wishes to see him for one last bourbon before he’s cremated. We will hold a ceremony at his home at 12pm Saturday 1st March to place his ashes with Ave’s. Loved father of Andre and father-in-law of Tree Richardson, and much loved partner of Jillian Sullivan. Loved brother and brother in law of Glenn and Sukhi, Greg and Janey and uncle to Natasha, Shaan, Charlie, and Jack. Brian was a keen cyclist, hockey player, fly fisherman and mountaineer. He was a passionate environmentalist who dedicated his life to protecting, preserving, rehabilitating and celebrating the natural environment through activism and poetry. Notable accomplishments: Inaugural New Zealand Poet Laureate of Nature 2024, New Zealand Poet Laureate in 2003-05. Honorary doctorate of literature from the University of Otago, ONZM for his services to literature and the environment, the Prime Minister’s Award for Literary Achievement in Poetry, the Commonwealth Poetry Prize and several national book awards for poetry For those who would like to say goodbye to Brian please feel free to visit on Friday February 7, Saturday 8, and Sunday 9 between 12pm and 4pm in Glenn’s home at 337 Beacon Point Road, Wanaka.
